In October 2000, the German Department at the University of Porto hosted a oneday symposium that was intended to increase scholarly interest among Portuguese Germanists in one of the most unique Middle High German literary works: Das Nibelungenlied. The present publication, edited by John Greenfield, contains the eight papers presented at this symposium.
