Eine Epoche im Umbruch: Volkssprachliche Literalität 1200–1300. Herausgegeben von Christa Bertelsmeier-Kierst und Christopher Young. Cambridger Symposium 2001. Tébingen: Max Niemeyer Verlag, 2003. Pp. xi + 347. €86.

The selection of eighteen essays presented at the eponymous Cambridge Symposium in March 2001 offers a comprehensive picture of the current state of the study of thirteenth-century German literature, both the vernacular and Latin. The register of contributors is quite impressive, and the superb quality of the essays justifies the expectations aroused by the names, testifying to both the importance of the conference and the merit of the editors.
