Daz Sint Noch Ungelogeniu Wort: A Literary and Linguistic Commentary on the Gurnemanz Episode in Book III of Wolfram's Parzival (161, 9—179, 12). By Simon Julian Gilmour. Heidelberg: Universitätsverlag C. Winter, 2000. Pp. xvii +371. $43.50

This new English-language commentary on the pivotal Gurnemanz episode in Wolfram's Parzival continues analysis of a narrative strand begun by David Yeandle's Commentary on the Soltane and Jeschute Episodes in Book III of Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival (116,5–138,8) [1984] and continued in Birgit Eichholz's Kommentar zur Sigune- und Ither-Szene im 3. Buch von Wolframs Parzival (138,9–161,8) [1987]. Both of these works were well received, although not without some reservations. Accordingly, Professor Gilmour begins his work by addressing the tradition of Parzival commentary and attempts to counter some anticipated objections.
